Help for Heroes Fund Raising

Our first charity shoot of the year took place on Sunday 11th March 2012 and was the Notts Vs Derbyshire Skeet Challenge Match. This is the 3rd year of this event and, as always, is in support of the Help for Heroes charity. Notts won the first challenge match in 2010, Derbyshire easily beat Notts in the return match of 2011. This year Derbyshire really turned the screws on Notts and thrashed their neighbours by over 4 clays per shooter! Well done Derbyshire - local skeet bragging rights definitely sit with you for another year.

The real success of the day was the fund raising done for the charity, £600 was raised on the day which was absolutely fantastic.

Our second charity shoot of the year took place on Sunday 25th March 2012 and was the Notts Vs Derbyshire DTL Challenge Match. Again this is the 3rd year of this event and again is in support of the Help for Heroes charity. Notts won the first 2 challenge matches in 2010 & 2011, so Derbyshire really had something to prove. A fantastic sunny day greeted the shooters and the local rivalry and banter began very early. It became clear fairly early on that Notts were going to have a fight on thier hands as the Notts Big Guns were a little below their best and Derbyshire really took advantage with some great performances. In the end Derbyshire proved successful again this year by beating Notts by 25 points, less than one clay per shooter so it was a much closer contest than the skeet match!

Derbyshire were over the moon to do the double and deservedly so.

On the day we managed to raise £320, another fantastic result.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank the following people

Robert Jones for his incredibly generous donation
Gary Webster, John Knapp, Joy & Rob Hirons and Mick Tomlinson for their kind donations
Sean Severn for supplying a special edition Chinook Poster that is for sale at the club
Micky Dore, Peter Stanton-Hope, Stevie Roberts, Ray Rogers, Paul Fallon & Stuart Thomas who all donated their competition winnings.
Julie Havill for her amazing cake sale
John Townroe & The Le Blancs for their donations to the raffle prizes.

Lastly we would like to thank all who came and paid charity levies on their entry fees, bought raffle tickets and took part in the H4H picture raffle.

The £920 has been added to the £80 already collected through the Toledo 101 Trap Trophy at Christmas and collection boxes located in the Club.
